Julie Chai is the Associate Garden Editor for Sunset magazine. She received a master’s degree in journalism from Stanford University and has worked as a residential gardener. She’s been writing about gardening for four years, and has written numerous articles for Sunset about topics like small space design, vegetable gardening, healing gardens, and seed starting. She’s taken a number of horticulture classes but has mostly learned about gardening through lots of trial and error in her own garden. As a newer gardener, she especially enjoys helping gardeners who are just getting started.
